About U-BEACH

The beach belongs to all of us.

Acknowledgment of Country

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of our beaches and other lands on which we innovate, collaborate, and advocate and pay respect to the First Nations Peoples and their Elders, past, present, and future

U-BEACH recognises the important relationship between health and wellbeing and connection to land and sea, family and community, culture and identity. We commit to ensuring our beach access and inclusion projects are co-designed using an intersectional approach to ensure both ability and culture are celebrated

Culture of Sustainability

The beach is central to our Australian way of life and represents an essential place to live and play. We will continue our commitment to improving beach access and inclusion throughout Australia, supporting sustainable measures through our partnerships with people and communities. Social, environmental, and economic sustainability will be encouraged through good health and wellbeing, quality education, industry innovation, reduced inequalities, and responsible action and partnerships for our U-BEACH goals.

Our U-BEACH Journey

Founded in 2020, U-BEACH is a collaborative hub that values inclusivity in natural environments representative of our regional Queensland heritage. Our university-led hub now brings together industry, community, and people with lived experience from all around Australia to innovate and collaborate. By harnessing our expertise as well as research and education capability, we seek to shape policy and provide innovative beach-based solutions that improve quality of life, health, and wellbeing for people with disability.
