Sasha Job

U-BEACH project owner, manager, and principal research investigator

Sasha is a physiotherapist, lecturer and PhD candidate at CQUniversity, Bundaberg. She is  passionate about physical activity participation, accessibility, and health and wellbeing which has inspired her thesis “Universal Beach Accessibility Hub (U‐BEACH): A pathway to increase physical activity participation, health, and wellbeing for people with disability”. Sasha is an outdoor enthusiast and loves sharing her love of the beach and advocacy journey with her two sons. You will be sure to meet Sasha with sand between her toes and a sun kissed glow!

Dr Steven Obst

U-BEACH project executive and principal research investigator

Steve is a physiotherapist and senior lecturer at CQUniversity, Bundaberg. He is passionate about understanding how muscles and tendons grow and adapt in response to physical activity and exercise. He is a cricket tragic and beach bum from way back and is very excited about the opportunity to merge his love of the beach and physical activity research to make the beach (and beach cricket 😊) accessible to everyone in Australia. If you look closely you might just see Steve swimming with the dolphins up and down Kelly’s Beach Bargara as the sun rises.

Dr Luke Heales

U-BEACH project principal research investigator

Luke is a physiotherapist and senior lecturer at CQUniversity, Rockhampton. He is passionate about understanding how pain and disability affects the way people move and how physical physical activity can improve quality of life. Luke is a father of three and loves spending weekends at the beach with his kids. He is passionate about helping people live their best life and is excited about merging his research and love of the beach to make the beach accessible to everyone in Australia, no matter their age or ability. If you listen carefully you might just hear Luke calling his 2-year-old to stop going so deep when she can’t even standup in the waves let alone swim!
